Minocqua Country Club, is a Private, 18 hole golf course located in Minocqua, Wisconsin.
The original Minocqua Country Club golf course was designed in 1915 by C.C.Clark and Hurbert Howard. On July 1, 1998, the shareholders of Minocqua Country Club approved expansion plans, which included construction of a new golf course and clubhouse. Plans to move ahead with the golf course was contingent upon the Club raising $2,000,000. This was accomplished on November 1, 1998 by signing up 150 golfing members and obtaining pledges of $50,000 each from ten individuals.
On July 4th, 2001, all 18-holes of the new par-72 championship golf course officially opened for play. The new course was designed by Ron Garl.
The front nine opens with a par 5 featuring majestic pines down the right hand side, the golf course gives you a hint of what to expect. Generous landing areas, superior bunkering, and a versatile green are all present setting the stage for what is to come. #2,3,and 4 cut through the forest, with two of the holes bordering the thoroughfare, a body of water connecting Lake Minocqua and Lake Tomahawk. #5 - #9, as well as #1, sit on the land where Minocqua Country Club's original golf course once stood. Although these holes are not as heavily treed as the rest of the course, the mounding and terrain changes allow each hole to be secluded from the others.
The back nine begins with a par four situated in a valley with tall pines and other hardwoods overlooking its entire length. #11 - #14 traverse several ridges and rolling hills and offer both excellent birdie opportunities as well as the possibility of sending your score in the other direction. The final stretch of holes will define most good rounds from all others. #15 is a par five running along the thoroughfare, including a tee shot that must carry up to 191 yards over some marshland. The par three #16h offers possibly the most demanding shot on the course, with water hazard short and left, a gaping bunker right, and a very demanding green. #17 and #18 are par fours that demand accurately placed tee shots and approaches.
